Chef Gary Lang and Chef Elizabeth Shaw believe that seasons define the menu and they have a 100% commitment to the absolute purest locally sourced ingredients. They apply a simple elegant modern approach to a rich southern Lowcountry traditional cuisine. "Our goal is to create perfectly seasoned food using the freshest local ingredients complimented by expert, attentive, and cordial service." says Chef Lang. To that end pristine locally caught seafood is a hallmark of the restaurant.
Chef Lang and Chef Shaw's version of 'New Southern Cuisine' contains the past, present, and future all at once. Younger, lighter, and fresher than traditional Southern 'Old School' deep-fried fare while acknowledging culinary influences from the world beyond. The bar at Breakwater exudes a lively energy with locals and travelers alike. While the inviting dining room has both intimate and dramatic high ceilinged areas.The atmosphere is fun and friendly and warm Southern hospitality is a signature of the restaurant.
